OUSD works with a variety of After School Program agencies to provide programs from dismissal until 6:00 p.m. daily. Programming varies by school site, but typically include access to art, sports, STEM, and academic opportunities. There are no fees for OUSD After School Programs, and snacks are served to students daily. If you indicate on your application you are interested in an After School Program, you will be contacted by the school&#39;s agency provider once you are offered and accept a seat at the school.&nbsp;

Why choose us?

Brookfield Elementary is working on a big plan to make our school even better. A team of parents, teachers, and staff from the school district are meeting in a group called a Design Team to think about how we can help more students learn, grow, and feel proud of our school. We&rsquo;re using student, family, and community ideas to help guide the changes. The team has decided to bring a Montessori program to Brookfield to give students new ways to learn and explore.

The team has updated the school&rsquo;s mission, values, and goals by listening to what students, families, and staff had to say. They want Brookfield to feel like a true &ldquo;Village&rdquo; school&mdash;a place where everyone belongs and feels supported. The team is also thinking about ways to improve the school building and our website so that more families want to come here. One big idea they are exploring is to work with a nearby Oakland public charter school called Urban Montessori that is closing. They teach in a way that many Brookfield families are interested in. The two schools may work together to bring Montessori learning to Brookfield and explore how to create a Montessori program at our school.

Montessori education matches the way children naturally learn. It supports students to make choices and learn through hands-on activities at their own pace. In a Montessori classroom, students of different ages learn together and help each other. A lead teacher and an assistant teacher guide students to direct their own learning by exploring classroom materials and their larger communities. This allows students to become more independent, curious, and confident. Montessori schools focus on the whole child, helping students grow in reading, math, history, science, art, and music, while supporting them to be kind, respectful, and responsible.

We run our afterschool program in partnership with Bay Area Community Resources (BACR). The after school program runs from the end of the school day until 6 p.m. We offer the following programs:
